Family Planning in Haiti: How Mobile Clinics Empower Women and Strengthen Communities

In rural Haiti, access to healthcare is often limited by distance, cost, and lack of local services. That’s why Haiti Projects operates mobile clinics, traveling into remote communities to bring essential care directly to women who might otherwise go without. Through these mobile clinics, women gain access to family planning and reproductive health services—giving them the power to make informed decisions, care for their families, and build brighter futures.

Meet two incredible women who share how these services have transformed their lives.

Meet Matilde: A Mother Empowered by Family Planning

“My name is Matilde. I’m 39 years old and a proud mother of seven children—four boys and two girls.

Since 2018, I’ve been receiving family planning services from Haiti Projects. I chose the injection method as my form of contraception, which has helped me avoid unplanned pregnancies and focus on caring for the children I already have.

Family planning has truly changed my life. It has given me the ability to plan for my family’s future and ensure that I can provide for my children’s needs. I deeply hope that Haiti Projects can continue this important program, as it makes a real difference in the lives of women like me.”

Meet Landie: Taking Charge of Her Future

“My name is Landie. I’m 24 years old and the mother of one child.

Since giving birth in 2023, I’ve been using the injection method of family planning. I chose this method to help me avoid another pregnancy right now and to better manage my reproductive health.

Family planning has given me the confidence and peace of mind to focus on my child and plan for the future on my own terms.”

When women have access to reproductive health services—right in their own communities—they gain the freedom to make choices that shape their futures and strengthen entire families.

Your support helps keep these mobile clinics running and ensures that women like Matilde and Landie can continue to access the care they need.
